Default Administrator Permissions

Scroll Prev Top Next More

Domain administrators can only modify features for which they have been granted permission. Use this page to choose which feature permissions newly created domain administrators start with (this also applies to regular users who are promoted to domain administrator). Global administrators always have access to all features.

Select "-- Global --" to set the system-wide defaults, or select a specific domain to give that domain its own defaults. New domain administrators receive the defaults of the domain their account belongs to. The global defaults are used if that domain has no custom defaults, or if the administrator is external with no local account. Individual administrators can be granted custom permissions from the Edit Administrator page.

Nearly all of the permissions are enabled by default, with the few exceptions noted below.

Apply to Existing Administrators

Apply these settings to existing domain administrators when saving

To apply these settings to existing domain administrators, select "-- Global --" or a specific domain in the "For Domain:" drop-down list at the top of the page. Adjust the default permissions as needed. Click the Apply these settings to existing domain administrators when saving checkbox, and click Save.

When applying the global defaults, administrators in domains that have their own custom defaults are left unchanged; all other domain administrators are updated to the new defaults. When a specific domain is selected, only that domain's administrators will be updated.

Exceptions - Domains

If you wish to customize this page's settings for specific domains:

1.Select a domain in the "For Domain:" drop-down list at the top of the page.

2.Click Use the custom settings defined below for this domain.

3.Choose the desired settings.

4.Click Save.

When any customized domains exist and "-- Global --" is selected above, the customized domains will be listed here at the bottom of the page. Click the View/Edit link for the corresponding domain to review or edit its settings, or click Reset to reset the domain's settings to the default Global values.
