Use the Chat Settings dialog to choose how the WorldClient theme's Chat page behaves. To open it, click the Settings (gear) icon in the upper right corner, and then click Chat. This option is available only when chat is enabled for your account. After making your changes, click Save.

Show Typing Indicators

When this option is enabled, a typing indicator appears in a conversation while the other person is typing a message to you, and other people can see when you are typing a message to them. Clear this check box if you do not want to see typing indicators or let others know when you are typing. This option is enabled by default.

Enter to Send

With this option enabled, pressing Enter sends your message, and pressing Shift+Enter starts a new line. When it is disabled, pressing Enter starts a new line, and you must click Send to send your message. This option is enabled by default.

Show Delivery Indicators

Use this option to display checkmarks beside the messages you send in one-on-one conversations, showing whether each message has been sent, delivered, or read. A message can only be shown as delivered or read if the recipient's chat program reports it. This option is enabled by default.

Request Delivery Receipts

If this option is enabled, each message you send in a one-on-one conversation asks the recipient's chat program to confirm that the message was delivered. Those confirmations are what allow a message to be shown as delivered. This option is enabled by default.

Show Mention Notifications

When this option is enabled, Webmail displays a notification when someone mentions you in a chat message, even when you are working in another part of Webmail. You are also notified, when you sign in, of any unread messages that mentioned you while you were away. This option is enabled by default.

Render Message Formatting

This option displays text formatting in chat messages, such as *bold*, _italic_, ~strikethrough~, code, and quotes, as formatted text. When it is disabled, messages are displayed exactly as they were typed, including the formatting characters. This option is enabled by default.

Show emoticons as emoji

Text emoticons in chat messages, such as :) and ;), are displayed as emoji when this option is enabled. This option is enabled by default.

Sync messages across devices

When this option is enabled and you are signed in to chat in more than one place, such as in Webmail on another computer or in a chat app on your phone, the messages you send and receive in one place also appear in the others. This option is enabled by default.

Send read receipts

This option lets the people you chat with know when you have read their messages. Clear this check box if you do not want others to see when you have read their messages. This option is enabled by default.

Prevent the server from archiving messages

Enable this option if you do not want the chat messages you send to be saved in the server's message history. They are marked Message not archived in the conversation and are not kept in its history, so they will not be there when the conversation is reloaded later. You can also turn this on and off from the message box on the Chat page. This option is disabled by default, and it is available only if your server allows it.

Show inline image previews

When this option is enabled, images that are shared in a conversation are displayed as previews. When it is disabled, they are displayed as files that you can download. This option is enabled by default.
